DThe Cologne author and singer Annette Meisl has released her debut CD with chansons She wants to be great, wants to sing, never lie, for her it should rain red roses:
When listening to Annette Meisl's CD "Carmen 5.0," a comparison with Hildegard Knef comes to mind. Meisl's voice is brighter and - although she owns a cigar manufactory - not quite so marked by smoke and alcohol, but the lyrics are similarly melancholic and profound. Like Knef, Meisl tells stories of longing. Seven years ago, the Ehrenfeld resident landed a surprise success with her book "Das Sexperiment - mein Leben mit fünf Männern" - she incorporates her sad and funny, grotesque and very normal experiences with men into her lyrics. Most of the chansons, which incorporate jazz, tango, pop and bossa nova elements, she sings in German, intermittently the globetrotter, who lived in Spain for a long time, switches to Spanish and French. That the emotional journey through her life, which she recently brought to the stage in Cologne and Colombia as music cabaret, succeeds musically is also due to producer Geo Schaller, who played numerous instruments, as well as guitarist Rudi Rumstajn and double bassist Constantin Herzog. The CD is available in Meisl's cigar salon La Galana, Venloer Strasse 213, in the online shop of her manufactory and soon also in major mail order retail. (uk)
